I’m headed down to winston-salem to spend some time with my boyfriend and I’m trying to think of some fun things to do around there. and then the next weekend we’re gonna be in asheville and gatlinburg so any suggestions on things to do indoors and outdoors?

Answer by nikki. I can help you out on the Gatlinburg part. I’ve been going down there since I was little so I know alot of different attractions. The #1 attraction would have to be Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies. It’s very nice there. It really all depends on what you’re looking for. Gatlinburg has a wide variety of things. Loads of shopping! But if you’re looking for nature and such, you can take a little drive out into the National Park not located too far away. Theres also a “Sky Lift”, its takes you on a moutain with SPECTACULAR views! Theres a large variety of things you can do. This website should also help!

Most of the road is in Tennessee. This was our second time on the tail….the first time was last fall with all the fall foliage. Both times with the top down on the convertible – which accounts for some of the windshield glare. Sorry about that – but was too beautiful a day to leave it up! Last time we drove the Dragon, we saw 3 wrecks – all motorcycles – so be careful. Don’t end up with bits and pieces on the Tree of Shame! Myself and four children are taking a family vacation from Texas to Gatlinburg for Christmas. I need some suggestions on what to go do, other than Dollywood and shows. I really want them to see some amazing nature. I don’t mind driving a little out of the way if there is something that my kids will keep as a special memory of the Gatlinburg area or even the drive there. I really want them to have an amazing Christmas this year as we are not usually able to do something like this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for help about how to deal with a rental in Gatlinburg Tennessee (mycabinvacation) which rented a cabin but the jacuzzi leaked? It was $ >250 per night and I rented on good faith that everything worked. What would you do?
I asked for a refund and they said no.

Answer by TravelinJim I would have complained before checking out. And then ask for a discount on the room. At $ 250 a night for a “jacuzzi room” I think I would have asked for at least a 50% discount or maybe a voucher for another night to be used at a later date.
Question by 2007_Shelby_GT500: Good place to stop half way between NYC and Gatlinburg, TN?
Taking a road trip next week from NYC and am planning to stop in Gatlinburg, TN. From NYC to Gatlinburg is 12 hours. I would like to break the trip up in half and am looking for recommendations.
Just looking at the map, some choices that come to mind are Baltimore, MD, Blacksburg VA, or Harrisonburg, VA.
I was thinking about Williamsburg, but that takes me too far east.
Any suggestions?

Answer by i hate the yankees hey, unless you are planning to stay in the cabins in Gatlinburg, i wouldn’t suggest going there. the big long street full of go kart tracks is crap. trust me stay in Townsend. Its much better after experiencing the both. we stayed there this past two summers and this winter. its very queit at night and still close to gatlinburg/ pigeon forge. and its much cheaper.
